Who was Rube Goldberg?

Rube Goldberg drew cartoons of machines that took far too many steps to complete a simple task. Though completely impractical, many machines have been built from his cartoons. This competition will allow participants an opportunity to try their hand at making a creative device that will perform a simple task following the ideas of Rube Goldberg.
