Founded in Dec 1970 , won two seats in the first multi-party elections held in 1976, increased its seats to 6 in 1981, then to 12 in 1985, to 13 in 1993. The party is now partner to a two-party coalition , its orientation is left.

* What kind of solution to the Cyprus Problem do you support/propose?
A solution based on the 1977-79 high level agreements and other accords between the two communities, i.e a bizonal, bicommunal /federal solution.
* What kind of solution to the Cyprus Problem do you expect to take place?

* Views about the problem of non-Cypriot settlers.
Those married to T/C to become citizens of the new federal republic. The owners of land either stay or leave. Those who choose to stay to be naturalised in time.
* Views about the problem of movement, ownership and settlement.
Freedoom of movement to be implemented right from the start. The other freedoms to be implemented as confidence between the two communities grows.
* Views about the problem of missing persons.
Their fate to be found and announced.
* Views about the problem of extremists of any kind in both communities, and how to tack- le the possible problems that might arise from them in case of a solution.
Text books on both sides should be revised so that there won't be any more extremists. Extremists should be handled with tact.
* Views about the security concerns of both communities. What kind of a legal system, po lice force, guarantees etc would / should be used to tackle this problem? Also, include emotional concerns.
A number of Turkish troops should stay to protect the Turkish Cypriot communitiy. The T/C police force should be responsible for law and order in the North. The Turkish Federated state should have the authority to regulate settlement within its juristiction.
* What kind of system do you propose/support as the military system of the island in case of a solution and also for the present situation? Please specifically give the views regarding foreign armies and the Cypriot army itself, plus the type of military service in future.
A number of Turkish trrops sufficient for the security of T/C's and a number of Greek troops to be stationed in the respective zones. The federated states can have their own armies.
* How do you view the ethnical construction of island? Please specifically mention the vi- ews about a possible Cypriot culture, and ethnical identities (e. g Turkish and Greek com- munities vs T/C and G/C communities).
The two communities will live separately in their own regions until confidence between them is restored in the mean time the common Cypriot values of the two communities must be brought to the fore.
* What could/should be done to tackle the issue of emigrants to foreign countries?
A just and viable solution will encourage investments which will create new jobs for the young generations.
* Views of the party regarding the present and future economy of Cyprus (of both communities), including the economic structure of Cyprus in case of a solution. Ple- ase state what kind of a solution you are refering to in the answer.
A federal solution will unite the country both economocally and politically. Parity between the two zones can easily be reached with the assistance of the federal state and Cyprus can become a part of the European Union.
* Views of the party regarding the issue of the accesion of Cyprus (or part of it etc) to the European Union, including what kind of accesion it would ideally and possibly be. (E.g before a solution as two communities under the name of Cyprus Republic)
There can be no accession before a solution. Cyprus can join Europe soon after a solution under certain conditions and derogations.
* Does the party support bi-communal activities such as youth get togethers, and if so what kind of activites would it suggest for future, and what kind of activities did it so far participate/ organise. If not, please explain why.
The party has always been for the intercommunal contacts and activities. The party has organised and partipated in various get-togethers.

The party is a contemporary progressive party giving priority to human rights , social justice and the rule of law.
