Foundations and Goals

Hamamboculeri; (Cockroaches)

1. Respect human rights and freedoms and democratic norms. They do not refrain from criticizing those that do not.

2. Struggle against chauvinism, racism and sexual discrimination in Cyprus and in the world. They use their articles in the struggle for the elimination of these discriminations.

3. Do not only expose the "dirt" in their country, but also express the positive aspects.

4. Take it as a duty to question every concept.

5. See their articles as an educational tool that will help them and their readers improve their critical thinking abilities and help define, adopt and build on modern educational norms.

6. Play a pioneer role in the expansion of internet literacy and the more effective uses of internet technology (which comprises one of the most important devices in "lifelong learning") in their country.

7. Put a solid effort in the easier dissemination of thought and knowledge to larger masses in the spirit of (6)

8. Value the universal principles of journalism when writing their articles.

9. Oppose the advertisements about issues they do not believe in on their webpages.

10. Defend the thoughts that are under attack in their community and the advocates of these thoughts. They do not attack anyone personally in an attempt to hurt their dignity in the eyes of the community.

11. Struggle for their points of view but do not take the stand that only their points of view are the true and absolutely true.

12. May be the members or supporters of different political parties but the magazine itself is not the publication of any political party or group. The columnists hold the right to express their opinions and criticize their parties as well as others. They respect each other's points of view and see this diversity as a richness, not a weakness.

13. See the future of humanity in the establishment of equal material and social conditions for all and question the past and present for the establishment of a better future. They solidify this struggle with their articles.
