Well, you certainly are the brave one, aren't you =). Well, here
it is - a lasting impression from five years of life at Penn. It is a
detailed 3D Animation, which I built using Caligari's TrueSpace 3, and editted using a
shareware version of Flickerfree's
Personal AVI editor. For those of you who lived at Penn, especially you
STWingers and such, you might ... recognize some things. Keep in mind as
you watch this, that I actually submitted this project for a grade =D. I
hope you enjoy it, let me know what you think either way.
NOTE: THIS .avi FILE IS ABOUT 9 MEGS LONG, so you might want to download
it first and then play it, depending on the speed of your connection
(download by right-clicking on the link and doing a "Save Link As"). If it gives you an error the first time you do it, try again - it's a bit erratic sometimes.

Some Important Notes
- All the images and objects that make up the frames in this
animation were created by myself (i.e., I downloaded nothing), using the
aforementioned software. While the work was all mine however, I can't
possibly take credit for all the great ideas. Special thanks go out to
some buddies of mine who came up with some awesome material. These
include: John C.
Parker (who was the one who convinced me to do this type of scene
rather than just a boring virtual tour of King's Court, and who thought
of many of the images you just saw), Elan Ruskin (former roomee who
added some great ideas, including the most unfortunate out-take of the
whole project - R.I.P., urine-monster), and Ben Slusky, Ben Williams, Mike Bruni, and Constantin Friedman for their
suggestions, contributions, and for critiquing the scene before it was
submitted.
- The shower curtains were created using a special waves plug-in for TrueSpace
3.0.
- For those of you non-STWingers/non-Penn people, (BE THANKFUL YOU'RE
NOT!! uh, whoops) the images depicted in this animation are of an actual
building - King's
Court, a predominately freshman housing facility, which was my place
of residence during both my first and last years at Penn. And although
this will sound cliche, the people, the community, and the atmosphere at
King's Court/English House are quite possibly what I will miss most
about my alma mater.
- You can learn a lot in one month (even if it means sacrificing almost
all your sleep). On April 3 of this year, I hadn't the foggiest clue about
anything regarding 3-D modelling, rendering and animation. On May 7, I
submitted this project. Yes, it *WAS* my April of 1998! It could have
been a very stressful and difficult time for me, with graduation near and
plenty of other things to take care of as well. Instead, all those folks
around me as I worked on the project made the time as fun and memorable
as it could have been. Thanks again to the folks of KC/EH, and STWing in particular, for not letting
things ever get too serious. =)
