UPDATE 4/14/2010, 12:15AM. And the streak comes to an end. One year short of 10 straight, I failed to get in an update on this page on April 13th, only getting around to it shortly after midnight. I suppose that's fine - never really added anything cool here and man, streaks are hard to keep up. Lots of pressure associated with that sort of thing. So enjoy the rest of this year and maybe some years to come, as now I no longer have to stop by on 4/13. And no, I'm not going to start a 4/14 streak =P

Update: Upon scrolling down a bit, it looks like there wasn't an entry for 2003. So the streak was really only 6, and 8 out of 9. Hmmm... yep, it still means nothing. =)
UPDATE 4/13/2009, 6:12PM. For the 9th consecutive year, an April 13th has included me making an (almost completely pointless and void of any meaningful content) entry into this page. Seriously, other than a slight obsession with streaks I'm not entirely sure why i keep making it a point to do this, especially considering the parenthesized part above... Well, here it this year's bit of nothingness. Maybe hitting the decade-mark next year will inspire me to put something else here (hah). Anyway, yesterday was Easter and i really enjoyed receiving this thing. I hope you like it too. Hey, it's the closest thing here that actually qualifies as content...

UPDATE 4/13/2008, 10:58PM. So I never did get back to update this page that next day. In fact it took me one hour short of a whole year to do it. About par for this course, eh? ;)

Another year has gone by the boards and still nothing interesting lives here, but as always we keep the hopes alive by marking the passing of time with this annual entry. We need more of that time to be in the "free" category for anything to happen however. I've considered looking into getting fired, but as much fun as it sounds like that could be, not too mention all the interesting material that would give me for this site, doing so might hamper my abilities to, y'know, eat and stuff. and keep a roof over my head. and most importantly, an internet connection. that last one's the real kicker in this partcular context...

So have a good rest-of-2008. Finish up your taxes, be sure to change your air filters, look both ways before crossing the street, etc. (and if you're in Philly, pay extra care while you're on the sidewalks as well...)
UPDATE 4/13/2007, 11:57PM. Made it! You didn't think I'd let an April 13th go by without putting SOMETHING here, did you? A lot has been going on lately, this week being no exception, so I am quite tired. I'll be back tomorrow when hopefully I'm awake enough to put something clever here =P
UPDATE 4/13/2006, 9:17PM. So another year has passed, and April 13th is once again upon us, and as usual, it's been exactly 365 days since my last "update" to this page. Another year... Another hot summer, another 7/4 fireworks display. Another refreshing, or more accurately, INCONSISTENT fall, another football season without that elusive Jets Superbowl title (looks like the list is far from complete, too...), another soul-soothing Thanksgiving. Another winter, another spirited, heartwarming Christmas Day, another reflective Calendar Change, another blizzard. Another spring, another baseball season with a chance for the Yanks to reclaim the champeenship last attained in 2000. Another one of just about everything, EXCEPT an Easter! (last year end of March, this year this coming weekend). It has become an interesting zen exercise, this annual log into this random dark html page, once a black hole of nothingness with but a mere "away message" from a nearly burnt-out DBA recovering from the after-effects of the dotcom era, and now, well, still a black hole of nothingness, but one that becomes slightly less nothingful with each rare, periodic entry. Nothingful. I just created a word. See? Another first in this ever-growing bastion of creativity that is my personal website!

*sigh* I'm glad and honestly amazed you're still reading =). Lots of new developments in life too numerous (i.e. cumbersome) to mention here, but I will mention that I've toyed with the idea of throwing up a blog here. Of course even if I did, there would be that matter of UPDATING it occasionally, where my track record is, um, yeah... In the meantime (feels like I write that phrase this time every year...), here are some matters upon which I have been ruminating with the greatest of intensities as of late:
  • Every year, usually two days after Web Year's Day (though this year it's four), I can't help but blissfully ponder the virtues of a flat tax.
  • I thought of doing something like this years ago, but never had the time/cahones/evil-nature/etc-etc to pull it off so effectively.
  • To those of you with pre-conceived (i.e. FALSE) notions about my politics being far to any one direction, consider how I recently scored on one of those internet political test thingamies. Yes, I answered every question _completely_ honestly!
  • A watched-pot never boils, you're no safer in first class, and everytime I look at this page, the number turns red.
  • "Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened."
One final very important nugget of wisdom to impart: The bad news is that almost every time a cat goes to barf up a hairball, some grass he just decided to eat, and/or his dinner, he will usually head to the nearest carpet, no matter where he is at the time. The good news is after the subsequent cleanup effort, your day is almost guaranteed to improve from there... Okay I think that's more than enough for this year erm, entry. Keep watching, the day when this becomes a real website is coming any day now! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

UPDATE 4/13/2005, 11:40PM. *Whew* Just made it, though barely. And in reality by the time I actually make this update live it will be past midnight, but this work is being mostly done TODAY, so therefore I hereby declare that The Tradition continues. Anydangway, Happy April 13 and a Webby New Year to you all. Updates are coming soon blah blah haven't done much yet blah blah watch out for new stuff in the near future etc., *shovel* *shovel*. Something interesting to say for
now? Sure. Um, here are my cats. That's Leo over there on the left, to the right is Nigel. For those of you who don't know their story, these two adorable fellows came into my life last July for what was supposed to be a temporary foster-care type
arrangement until I found them a good place to live. Then I um, found ME a good place to live. Then they sorta just came along with me when I moved, and the rest is history. To clear up some misconceptions: No, i did NOT buy the house for THEM. And no, this was in NO way, shape or form an attempt to "replace" my Sweetness (see below). The timing of their arrival relative to her passing was purely coincidental, which is a lot more than can be said for the timing of their arrival to the average cleanliness of my living space since then =P

Regardless of what they've done to my basement (not to mention my living room, kitchen, bedroom(s), etc), they have become my good little buddies and are a joy to come home to at night. They are now roughly 11 months old and growing like weeds. Here are some more pictures taken recently. Like, an hour ago =). Seeya next year!, ehhhrm, REAL SOON!

UPDATE 9/7/2004, 7:55PM. Nope, I haven't forgotten! Further development on the Sweetness and Alan Parsons Project sections are still slated and coming. I've been sidetracked by a bunch of personal issues, not the least of which are the house and a steadily increasing "to-do" pile at work. Add to that the arrival of fall classes and football season and, well, you get the idea... Stay tuned, when some new stuff is ready I'll even send around email to the (very) few of you that I know actually still check this thing occasionally.

UPDATE 8/14/2004, 1AM:
Well I'm uncharacteristically adding an update to my site tonight, but it is with some sad news unfortunately. For those of you who don't know her, this is my cat, ms. Sweetness. This past Sunday August 8, after fighting through months of kidney problems and deteriorating health, she finally passed away at the tender age of 16 and a half. That's pretty good for a kitty, but we're still gonna miss her for a long time. Sweety arrived at my parents' house in April 1988 with her brother Rocky at the age of seven weeks, back when I was in the 7th grade (!!) and has been
my little buddy ever since. She was best known by those outside the household for her legendary timidity - very few people ever met her even if they visited the house. This was likely due to her penchant for dashing to the nearest hiding place from the moment the doorbell would ring until at least three hours after the last guest's departure. To the four people in the world she wasn't scared to death of however, she was cute, friendly, playful, affectionate, fun, and a complete dip =). She'll be remembered for all the games, leg rub-ups, naps on the couch, never covering up her... output in the litter box, and the occasional inexplicable barfing sprees. We'll miss it all (yeah, even THAT stuff). Thanks for all the good times darlin', you'll always be my sweety =). [Sweety Pics]

Yet another update, in which i'll probably make yet another empty promise to do something with this site that will never produce anything blah blah blah... 4/13/2004, 10:02PM:

Sooooooo... after skipping 2003's entry, it is once again that wonderfully RANDOM day of the 13th of April, my New Year's Day for personal web page development. and as always, i STILL haven't got anything new to show you. i dunno. maybe the development of this site is a subconscious reflection of how i consider the development of the man himself - constantly a work in progress, hoping to move forward, always planning and intending to produce something better to improve the lives of his family, his friends, and all those around him....

Or maybe i'm just a lazy schmuck.

Well either way, things have been good if a tad busy on this end. So much so that again i'm deferring further development on this site at this time. So if you never bothered to check out those links below, now would be a good time. And if you have, well, check 'em again. maybe they've changed THEIR sites a bit in the past 3 years...

That's it for now. See you next year!

UPDATE, 4/13/2002, 3:33PM:

Okay, i know this is looks like anything but a coincidence, but I did not realize the bottom part of this page (i.e., first entry on it) was written a year ago today until I had already opened this document for editing. QUITE strange, but yes it is a coincidence

Sorry I have dissappointed in the past year regarding the "un-crudulation" of this site. I have been told by several sources that I am a fool for this, and people are either putting up links to my site that make fun of it, or simply refusing to link it at all. This is fair, fair indeed. As April 13 appears to now be my "New Years Day" for website development, my new year's resolution is to, in the coming weeks, put something up here that is actually worth viewing. While I currently have only ideas floating around in my head, as opposed to anything concrete other than what is already here, you can expect to see some changes here towards the end of this month and May. I mean it, you're not the only one who's sick of this page being bland as all hell =P

In the meantime, some lessons for life:

Cats generally do not like posing for pictures, be they PC quickcams or any other kind.

If dogs are more your speed, please - always remember to curb them. Even the President has to!

Babies are a lot like the rest of us. They enjoy the occasional good stiff drink. They also like cookies. They really, REALLY like cookies. Like, a WHOLE LOT!

And of course, remember that stealing cable is a crime. (look closely)

UPDATE, 11/22/2001, 1:16AM:
Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!! =)

I have received word that the image of a kitten who happens to bear a striking resemblance to a stray that hangs out in my backyard, has recently made an appearance in Philly. This seems rather odd, especially considering that I've never seen the little dickens move more than about 30 feet away from my deck. So I don't know if I'm buying this one, I think y'all have been breathing in too much of the air from the South end of town...

----

Sorry, this site has been kinda cruddy in the past so i've taken it down for a while, during which time i may (ideally) un-crud it. If you're here to check out the King's Court bathroom scene (if you don't know, don't ask), here it is . Otherwise, check out these links in the mean time:

STWing!!, my beloved living-learning program from my days at Penn.

Need a Job? Check out HotJobs.com, the place I've been working at (and still do, sorta...) since graduation.

For those of you whom I haven't spoken with in a while, YES - the Alan Parsons Project is still my favorite band, AND ALWAYS WILL BE, DAMMIT!! This is my as yet very humble entry in the Pipeline.

Otherwise, I can't help you for now. Trust me, it's better this way. This is what you would do if you saw my site as it currently is.
