My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. I was so into this band and knew so much about their music that I made my very own page dedicated to this band. Up there you will see my own discography as well as a list of links of better Thrill Kill webpages than mine.
Garbage is a very cool band with an awesome offical website! I got into this band my freshman year in high school and I still love their music. Songs you've probably heard of theirs are "Stupid Girl", "I think I'm paranoid", "Special", and a few others. If you heard them back in 1995 when I started listening, you may have heard "Queer" or "I'm only happy when it rains".
Nine Inch Nails is powered by Trent Reznor. The music is sort of industrial techno, but I'm sure you've heard some of NIN's songs before, like "Head Like a Hole", "Closer", "Hurt", or from the newest album Fragile, "Into the Void." My favorite albums are Pretty Hate Machine and Fragile.
>Take the Nine Inch Nails Purity Test! I didn't design this test, but I stumbled upon it and I think it's great if you're a NIN fan. I scored a "Four Inches" on it.
Rage Against the Machine is a rhythmically excellent band. Sure, their music can be a little loud and very vulgar at times, but to me it's worth it. I like the band for their music including the vocal rhythm. Probably their most popular song is "Bulls On Parade".
R.E.M. is one of the best and most classic of the modern bands. They've been around for 20+ years and are still producing excellent music. Some of my favorite R.E.M albums are Eponymous, Monster, Automatic for the People, and Up, but I like all of them!
Rusted Root is about as folk music-esque as my music tastes will span. Even though they can be very folky and country-ish, they are a superb band, especially the drums! Rusted Root is one of those bands that's really good about using a lot of instruments effectively and musically, and they acutally give the percussion a much bigger role than just the backbeat. (You can see why I like them!) Their best album is without a doubt When I Woke. Probably the song you heard the most of is "Send Me On My Way".
Guster. Guster is another band that is really good musically. It combines instruments very well, especially the percussion. When people told me that the drummer didn't use sticks, I didn't believe them until I saw them live! It was quite a sight to see those cymbals ringing just from the slam of a hand. This band is definitely best when seen live.
Leftfield is a british techno/club band. Very cool band, with a very cool website. It uses music on the intro page, but uses it well, which is rare. :) I got into this band from the Trainspotting soundtrack. Leftfield's music is very techno, but more in a relaxing or spacy sort of way than a dance way. Still, the songs aren't too slow, and nor are they too repetitive. (A common problem with techno.)

Pulp Fiction. An great movie, and an excellent soundtrack. I can't think of anyone who doesn't like this soundtrack or wouldn't like it if they listened to it. Somehow it has lots of songs that just about everyone likes. Moreover, it contains some of the good original dialogue from the movie. Italicized titles are dialogue excerpts.

The Crow. This soundtrack got me interested in several bands, including The Violent Femmes, Machines of Loving Grace, Rage Against the Machine, The Cure, and My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult. Without this soundtrack I wouldn't have opened a whole window of my music taste. Though you probably have to like a certain type of music (industrial/goth/metal) to like this soundtrack, it is an excellent soundtrack for its genre.

Trainspotting. A disturbing but really good movie with an awesome soundtrack. Since this movie was jam-packed with stellar music, they came out with a second volume to the sountrack. The second volume had a lot of re-mixes (that weren't so great) and a lot of "music inspired by the movie" (so it wasn't really in the movie) but it also had some essential pieces that were left out of the first volume, like "Dark and Long" by The Underworld, "Think About the Way" by Ice MC, and "Come Together", by Primal Scream. This is the list of the songs on the first volume.

Saturday Night Fever. This movie was made so that it could have a good soundtrack! Think of your favorite 70s songs, and most of them will be on this disk.

The Matrix. This soundtrack is amazing, but like The Crow, it's mostly the same type of music, (techno, industrial) and you have to be into that sort of music in order to enjoy the soundtrack. Plus, some of the songs (maybe because it's the techno genre) can be pretty repetitive, but most are very good.
