| This is Ozona, TX, one of the places we stopped for gas. It is very typical of the Texas towns from San Antonio to El Paso, which are 550 miles apart. (There is nothing in between.) | |
Another typical Texas town: Kent Texas. |
The scenery started to get better when we got out of Texas. We had dinner and stopped our first night in Tucson, AZ. This picture is taken as we headed out the next morning, and was typical for the scenery. The land was flat with desert-like vegetation (lots of cacti!) but occasionally there were really big and beautiful rocks. |
This was one of those "scenic outlook" areas that we stopped at on our way up to Flagstaff. |
On our way to Flagstaff, we took a little detour for the last 50 miles or so, and went on this beautiful road. People (like us) were stopping all over the road just to get out and look at the scenery. It was so awesome! |
The Grand Canyon. I took a lot more pictures of this than I put up here. It really is worth going to, and it really is so much better than any picture shows it to be. |

Margaret and me at the Grand Canyon. |

The day we went to the Grand Canyon, we pressed on so that we could get to Las Vegas and spend the night there. Otherwise, I wouldn't have been able to see it at night. This is a picture of the hotel we stayed in. |
Another casino on the same street. |
These two were across the walk from each other. |
The next morning, we actually backtracked to go see the Hoover Dam, which is on the border of Arizona and Nevada. This is a picture from the South side. |
Margaret in front of the dam. |
This is a picture from the North, resevoir side. |
These are the many generators that collect energy from the water. We stopped here on the tour. |
After the Hoover Dam, we went back through Las Vegas to get to where we were going. This is the newer part of Las Vegas. |
Also in the same part of the city, this is another one of the hotel/casinos. |
