How
to Get There? Prague is located in the heart of Europe and has good transportation connections with the rest of the continent. Prague’s only international airport, Ruzyne, is 15km (9 miles) northwest of the city center. There are 40 international airlines that now fly to Prague. If you are flying from the United States the only direct flight to Prague is from New York with Czech Airlines. Delta operates scheduled flights from the east coast with stopovers in other European cities. There are also direct flights from Los Angeles and San Francisco to Europe with connecting flights to Prague; it takes about an hour and a half from Paris (Air France), London (British Airways), Frankfurt (Lufthansa), and Amsterdam (KLM). We can recommend one agency in the United States that specializes in
travel to Czech Republic: American West Tours and Travel, Inc (ask for Josef Kraul) 1247 Lincoln Blvd. Santa Monica, CA 90401 Tel: 310 451 8724 Fax: 310 451 9193 For group rates contact: SILVERWINGS (ask for Patrizia Cavanaugh) Travel Network Tel: 818 386 2300 Fax: 818 386 2303 Transportation from the Airport to the City Most hotels offer to pick you up at the airport. If that is not the
case, the airport is linked to the city center by a regular efficient bus
service. Buses leave from immediately outside the arrivals building. A schedule
is available from the airport information office. I would not recommend taking a Taxi unless you negotiate the fee
prior to you taking a ride. Make sure that the car is visibly marked as Taxi. There are also regular public transportation busses for
which you need a transportation ticket, available at any newsstand, I
would also suggest a obtaining a map of the city. Paying for the transportation
is on the honor system, with periodic checks by ticket inspectors who levy a
large fine on the spot if you don’t have a valid ticket. There is one ticket
for use on the entire system per ride – bus, tram, and metro. Buy a ticket
before you travel and stamp it yourself in the machines provided inside of the
vehicle or as you enter the metro area. Getting Around Transportation service to and from the wedding ceremony will be
provided. For all other events please ask your hotel concierge to flag you a
taxi or show you on the map how to get there. You are better off not renting a car, as the city is a complex web of
one-way streets and a large number of pedestrian areas. Prague’s public transportation system is a much more efficient way of
traveling around the city center. You can buy tickets at newsstands “Tabak” and
metro stations. The most optimal ticket value is 12 krones (Czech currency) per
ride. While you are at “Tabak”/News-stand make sure to get the latest addition
of the Prague Post, an English newspaper, where you can find everything that’s
happening around town from entertainment and dining to the latest events. www.praguepost.com Contact Information in
