Support In Residence: Library Advisor Hompages
So you are being asked upon to make a homepage. What needs to be
done? What should you say? Here's a few guidelines that will give you a
idea of what we expect of you:
- First of all it is *your* homapage. You can do with it
whatever you want. Use your imagination to create something that people
will want to look at and maybe explore a bit.
- BUT... You also have to keep in mind that since you are working for
Support In Residence as a Library Advisor are representing:
- Van Pelt Library
- Your particular residence
- the University of Pennsylvania
Therefore on your page we expect you to advertise in a clear and
obvious way that you are a Library Advisor and that you are
offering help with library research problems.
- You can either:
- Make your hompage a document containing all the information
we want you to put up. OR
- Put a highly visible link from your main index page that
links to a separate page containing this information.
- So what is the information you must include your page? The
following are the bare minimum you must include.
- Name
- Residence
- Room Number
- Telephone
- Office hours: If they change every week you should change the
document every week
- A "mailto" to your email address
- Keep in mind the reason behind the creation of your page. We need to
have this information easily accessible to anyone who needs your help. So
keep it organized, concise, and easy to get to. This increases the
chance that a student needing help will get it. When your page is
linked from your residence's page, students will be following this link to
find help...that help is you!
