Personal information

My name is Rafi Akhand Hasib, and I am a 22 year-old recent undergraduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Engineering.

I was born and lived in Bangladesh before immigrating to the United States since. Until moving to college, I lived with my family in New Jersey, primarily in Highland Park and North Brunswick.

Having graduated from college, I now reside in Montgomery County, working as an engineer for a company in the area and living a bachelor's life, spending much of my free time engrossed in music.

For more detailed information, visit the portal in the Contact section to access my profiles.

Musical Involvement

What began as an idle interest in 4th grade (beginner's clarinet) ultimately evolved to a heavy involvement in the performing arts during high school, college, and years beyond. Within the last decade, my feats have included:

  • Learning to play several musical instruments (from trumpet to saxophone to viola)
  • Competing against several top barbershop quartets in the Northeast US
  • Performing with professionals in rock concerts, services, and parades
  • Writing drill charts that were performed in marching band competitions
  • Arranging musical charts that were performed professionally onstage
  • Scoring an entire musical for orchestra, including several original vocal arrangements
  • Directing and assisting in directing musical groups of various sizes (quartet to ensemble)

Personally arranged music is described in further detail in the Hobbies > Music section.

Currently, my musical pursuits include the Montgomery County Band (trombone) and the North Pennsmen Barbershop Chorus (tenor). I briefly played with the Quakertown Band (clarinet). Lately, I've been working on chordal instruments (keyboard, guitar) to expand my musical understanding.

Today, I remain dedicated to music and I expect to, even after settling down. I like to think I'm living my dream of "engineer by day, musician by night".
