Well, I got Time Crisis today. Yeah, that's right, today, man the US Postal Service rocks! I'm never going to ship anything by UPS or FedEx again! USPS delivers on Saturdays and holidays (maybe only by Express Mail, though, that's how I sent it), and wouldn't you know it, whenever I want something that's always when the delivery date seems to end up. I have gotten screwed many times using UPS and FedEx and had to wait 2-3 extra days because of this. Anyhow, wow, this game is really cool. I always wanted a shooting game and this one really delivers. My only complaint is the somewhat low resolution, but it's very challenging and they added a really long and whole new story mode mission too! This new mission is very neat, and I can tell it's going to take a long time to master the whole game. The gun is pretty accurate, I'm not sure how much relative to other home systems, though. I feel like I was a better shot in the arcade. I think I was standing closer to the TV in the arcade, though. Playing Time Crisis really makes my arms tired, too. Ouch!
A malicious attack against Windows-based machines with super large ping packets (if this is the bug I'm thinking of) was possible until now. The hotfix has been posted on Microsoft's site. I wish more bugs could be used to crash Microsoft's web site, we'd all get those bugs fixed a lot faster. :-)
Direct download of hotfix for NT 4.0 I386 USA version: icmpfixi.exe For those of you who absolutely loved the brash, rude, honest and clever style of humor in the Monkey Island, this will be a real treat. It's the demo for the third installment in the Monkey Island. Be warned, from what I understand, the demo is a 19 MB download with a 23 MB optional music file. Supposedly Lucasarts has it up and running on their development machines. An official announcement was made to the effect that the patch would be free and available by late summer.
I added a new Chips section with some preliminary info.
I haven't quite been keeping up on my Playstation games, but I just noticed there's one game that just came out for the Playstation that I really want. Time Crisis! Have you seen it in the arcades? It's gun/shooting game, but you can duck to take cover and reload. It's going to cost 88 dollars with the gun, though. I'm throwing the idea of buying it around a little. Also, Tobal 2 and Ace Combat 2 are supposed to be cool, but they are a couple of months old. From comp.os.ms-windows.nt.misc:
Multi-processor system can be made into a single processor system simply by
Came home, read the paper, pre-release screening, DOH! Ran out, bought tickets and watched the show. It's good, but not intense. I wish it was longer. I was watching a kid play Tekken 3 outside after the movie, then some guy came up and whipped his butt using Eddy Gordo. After he beat him, he was like, "Nice try." So I played him with Hwoarang. He was telling the kid, Yeah, I'm pretty good. That made my double perfect feel even better hahahaha
Man, I also got to try Heihachi out the other day. He is really powerful. His uppercut
hasn't changed at all from Tekken 2, it's a mid floater. Namco's new Tekken 3 site has a lot of cool new stuff that only the company that made the game could provide. Take a look.
One big problem, though. This patch only works with the Tactcom addon, which is not available in the US. Uh, not too good for us Yankees. The addon is forthcoming, I believe. In the meantime, international users with the addon can download this. For all of you that did or didn't try the unauthorized release, you might want to try the real thing. Well, as real as beta gets, anyways. Forget 233, I just got a nice blue screen KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED in NT. It sure seemed to be going ok for a while. I did notice a hell of a lot of COM overruns and for some reason the Dial-Up Networking Monitor wasn't flashing even though I was receiving data. And then, the big one, BAM! I'm trying out 210 right now, which I think will run fine (although that obviously has yet to be determined for sure). I'm not sure if I'll stick with this or 200, assuming that 210 works. I usually go for the higher CPU speeds. 8:44 PM I had to lend one of my processors to my friend because his computer is crashing. We think it's his chip that is causing the problem and we're going to exchange it. Meanwhile I'm stuck with one CPU. I've been wary of going to 233 but since I have just one CPU now anyway I decided to try it. Seems to be working so far, but I'm going to run Winstone on it all night just to be sure. I also have to hope my other CPU can make it to 233 also! BTW, I tried running the RC5v2 client benchmark on this and hit 541K keys/sec! If I get both CPU's up at 233 I'll be able to break the 1M keys/sec barrier. Wouldn't that be cool?
Regclean is a nifty utility I had read about but never bothered to try until today. It's supposed to clean out a lot of junk from your registry. Well, it sure cleaned mine out...I hope nothing goes wrong! It does leave an undo .reg file in case you need it. 1:54 AM Dude, that movie is INTENSE! It's directed by John Woo, a very famous Hong Kong director who has a real die-hard following but is also just very popular. The action is incredible and the storyline is not the meat of the movie but works enough to keep you in it. GO SEE IT. There was this goddamn girl in the movie sitting like two rows behind me who kept yelling every time something happened. "Whoowoowooow!" "Whoaooaaaoaoa!" I was getting really really pissed off and finally I just turned around, stood up, and yelled "SHHHUUUTTTTTT UUUPPPPPP!!!!" at the top of my lungs. It took me about 5 minutes after that to get back into the movie. Do I feel bad about that? No, not really. HAHAHA | ||||||||||||||||||
