Dear Kofi Annan,

The present situation in Cyprus has created very unfavourable conditions for
the Turkish Cypriot community. Turkish Cypriots have been facing economic,
democratic and political difficulties owing to international segregation and
ambargos.

It is the common desire of our organisations that a bi-zonal, bi-communal
federation with political equality be established and this federation be a
member of the European Union. The non-governmental organisations, who have
reached a consensus based on our people?s demand, on the demilitarisation,
democratisation, a solution to the Cyprus problem, membership to the EU,
self-rule and change in the conditions which led to the collapse of economic
situation and crisis of the banking system, have recently campaigned and
have been supported by our people by 17,980 signatures, also demanding the
existence of Turkish Cypriot people in Cyprus in safely and politically
equal. While informing of the world of the demands of Turkish Cypriot
people, we would like to emphasize that Turkish Cypriot community, whthin
the entirety of Cyprus, is politically equal to Greek Cypriot community.
Turkish Cypriot people believe that peoples of Turkey and Greece will
definitely benefit from a permanent solution of the Cyprus problem and such
a solution will contribute to the peaceful cooperation, economic, social and
democratic development of the peoples of the three countries under the EU
umbrella. The present situation has affected the economic, democratic,
political and social life of Turkish Cypriot people negatively. Our people
have confirmed this with 17.980 signatures.

We present you with the demands of our campaign and the number of
signatures, certified by an officer and a law office.

We hope for your support and wish you success in your future efforts.
