AirSTWing: Quadrotor Semi-Autonomous Helicopter
AirSTWing was
initiated as an
independent
undergraduate research project to design, manufacture, and control a
small quadrotor helicopter. It evolved into a senior design project
headed by Roman Geykhman. I designed and manufactured the airframe for
the helicopter. The project was a success overall, although we could
not secure light enough rotors for untethered operation (the heavier
rotors tended to bend the driveshafts). It was the first project that I
worked on where weight minimization was a key objective.
